THE EMPLOYABILITY MILESTONE

Students who attend community college biotechnology programs and complete certain minimum requirements are expected to have foundational skills that prepare them for the workplace. Lab Skills I is defined as foundational skills common to all laboratory workers. Lab Skills II is defined as building on and strengthening the foundational skills acquired by completing Lab Skills I.

The Employability Milestone consists of 200 hours hands-on training and is usually completed in 2 to 3 semesters. Some programs have biomanufacturing, cell culture, and/or quality as areas of focus.
